Many of our clients don't realise that in Guernsey it's possible to sell back excess electricity generated from solar panels and not used in the home installation to Guernsey Electric. They will buy back the excess at the trade generation cost. This amount varies over the year but can help towards the recover the costs of the initial installation. It is however best to size and optimise the system to utilise the production within the property by correct design and using solar optimisers such as the Immersun.

 

There are exclusions for Solar P.V. installations which mean that Planning permission is not always necessary, but as always if in doubt it is prudent to put in a planning application especially as a number of Guernsey buildings are subject to listings and conservation area requirements.
